Privacy Policy

This policy explains how SignalSeek (the "App") handles your information.

In one sentence

The App has no accounts and collects no personally identifying information. By default your scan data stays on your own device; if you turn on sync, it goes only where you choose — your iCloud, your own server — never through us. We never receive it and cannot see it.

What we do not do

• No sign-up, no login, no collection of your name, email, or phone number
• We do not upload your floor plans, network measurements, or project contents to our servers (we operate no servers for this purpose; sync uses your own iCloud or your own WebDAV/NAS)
• No third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs
• We do not sell, share, or trade any of your data

Data the App creates and stores on your device

The following stays inside your iPhone's app sandbox (Application Support directory and system preferences) and is removed when you delete the App:

• Floor plan geometry — walls, room outlines, and per-floor geometry from scanning
• Network measurements — latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput, and coverage scores per sample point
• Wi-Fi identifiers — the network name (SSID) and access point hardware identifier (BSSID) of the network you measure
• Names you enter — project, floor, and room names; router notes
• Settings and purchase state — in-app preferences and whether Personal is unlocked
• Diagnostic and run logs — scan parameters and sync events, kept on a rolling basis for a few days so that a problem you report can be traced (see "Feedback and diagnostic logs" below)
• Team information (only if you create or join a team library) — a randomly generated personal identifier, the display name and role you set, plus your team's brand name, logo, project templates, and naming vocabularies
• WebDAV credentials (only if you connect your own WebDAV/NAS) — server address, username, and password, held in the system Keychain and never uploaded by any sync

How permissions are used

Camera — used to scan room structure via ARKit / RoomPlan and build the floor plan. Frames are processed into geometry in real time; they are not recorded, not saved, and never leave your device. The App stores no photos or video.

Location (While Using the App) — used for two purposes:

1. Reading the Wi-Fi network name. iOS requires an app to hold location permission before it can read the SSID/BSSID of the connected Wi-Fi network. This is a system requirement, not a desire on our part to know where you are.
2. Suggesting a project name. When you create a project, the App takes one location fix and asks Apple's geocoding service for a nearby place name (for example, a building or neighborhood) to use as a default project name, saving you typing. Your coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service during this lookup (subject to Apple's privacy policy). We do not store your coordinates — only the resulting place name, and only if you keep it as the project name. You can edit it at any time, or decline location permission entirely: the App then falls back to date-based names and scanning still works (though the Wi-Fi name cannot be read).

Local Network — used to probe your router/gateway for latency, jitter, and packet loss. This traffic stays within your local network.

Optional sync: where your data goes

Sync is off by default. With it off, your data exists only on this device. You may turn on either of the options below. What they have in common: you pick the destination and you control it. We run no server, relay nothing, and keep no copy.

• iCloud sync (Personal) — projects are written to the App's private iCloud container under your own Apple Account, using your own iCloud storage and governed by Apple's privacy policy. That container is not visible to us.
• End-to-end encryption (on by default for the personal library) — the personal library's cloud data is stored end-to-end encrypted by default, with the key existing only on your devices and in your iCloud Keychain; neither we nor the storage provider can read the content. Team libraries can enable it at the creator's choice.
• Team library (Team plan) — you can host the team library on your own WebDAV server or NAS (Synology, Nextcloud, or any WebDAV-compatible service), or in an iCloud shared folder. Which one, which machine, and who has access is entirely your decision.
• What team members can see — projects, reports, brand settings, templates, and naming vocabularies synced into a team library are visible to every member of that library. The member roster carries each member's display name, randomly generated personal identifier, and role, likewise visible within the library. Joining a team means agreeing to share this with the team's other members.

Sync is not backup. Its purpose is to show the same data on your own devices (or to your teammates); a project deleted in one place disappears from the others. Keep your own copies of anything you need to retain.

Feedback and diagnostic logs

So that a problem you hit can be acted on, the App keeps local logs of scanning and sync activity (device model, OS version, scan parameters, sync events, error codes). The logs contain no floor plan geometry, no coordinates, no photos, no Wi-Fi passwords, and no credentials. They roll off automatically after a few days.

These logs stay on your device. They leave it only when you go to Settings → Feedback, bundle them yourself, and choose to send them by mail or the share sheet — to t9dial@outlook.com. You can inspect the contents before sending, or inspect them without sending at all.

Network requests that leave your device

To measure broadband speed and web responsiveness, the App contacts third-party public test endpoints:

• Download test: downloads test data from public endpoints operated by Cloudflare and Linode
• Upload test: sends zero-filled, meaningless bytes to those endpoints — none of your data is included
• Web response test: makes one HTTPS request each to a set of public sites (Cloudflare, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Fastly, Amazon, Wikipedia, Yahoo Japan, and — for mainland China — Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, Bilibili), purely to time the handshake and first byte. Page content is not parsed.

In addition, when you enable sync the App talks to the destination you configured: iCloud sync is carried out by iOS itself; WebDAV sync connects directly to the server address you entered.

These requests carry none of your floor plans, measurement results, or personal information (a sync request carries your own data, and only to your own destination). As with any website you visit in a browser, the receiving servers see your IP address and ordinary request metadata; those third parties' handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Purchases

In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment information. The App only reads the system's answer to "is Personal / Team unlocked?" Apple's handling of purchase records is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Your control

• Delete one project: swipe to delete it in the project list; all of that project's data leaves the device
• Turn off sync: iCloud sync can be switched off, and a team library unmounted, at any time in Settings; new data then stops leaving the device
• Leave a team: your device stops pulling that library. Content already synced into it remains under the control of whoever hosts it — contact them directly
• Clear diagnostic logs: view and clear them under Feedback
• Delete everything: uninstall the App to clear all local data (copies you synced live in your own iCloud or on your own server; delete them there)
• Because your data never passes through us, we hold no copy — there is nothing for you to request an export or deletion of from us

PDF reports or data files that you export and share are under your control once shared, and this policy no longer governs them.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the App.
